Afro-Cuban Jazz Lecture and Performance - Virtual
Join us for an online presentation on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. by master flutist and lecturer Galen Abdur-Razzaq!
Enjoy a flute prelude by Galen, followed by a PowerPoint presentation focusing primarily on the roots and instrumentations of Afro-Cuban jazz (drums and timbales, claves, cajon). The program will also highlight prominent Latin Jazz artists such as Mario Bauza, Cachao, and Machito. You'll see demonstrations of the various styles and rhythms with actual samples of the music.
Learn more during a Q &A, and have fun testing your knowldege of the subject during a trivia game.
Registration is required and will close at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26.
