Now celebrating its 35th anniversary, the Ezra Jack Keats Award was created to nurture illustrators and writers, early in their careers, who create extraordinary books that reflect our diverse population, the universal experience of childhood and the strength of family.  This year, Delaware County Libraries will be awarding a Mock Ezra Jack Keats Award and we need your vote!

Here’s how to be a judge:

1.  Get your official judge’s booklet and judge’s pin at your local library (please call your library first to see if they are participating). Download your judge's booklet here or use this one page guide, then vote on-line.

2. Read/listen to at least three of the nominated titles between January 11th and February 28th. All the books are available either digitally from our Overdrive collection or in print through our local libraries. Some titles will also be available as read-alouds here.

3. Evaluate each book using the judge’s questions and critique forms inside the booklet as a guide, or use this handy one page guide.

4. Vote for your favorite book by dropping off your ballot (last page of the booklet) to any local library or by casting your vote below between January 11th and February 28th.

To cast your vote online, click here! (available starting January 11, 2021)
