Once Upon A True Story Series with Miss Mel

Once Upon A True Story Series with Miss Mel

Ever imagine you are an astronaut, a scientist, or an artist? Let’s continue to learn about someone new from history through an amazing selection of children’s picture book biographies. Today, Miss Mel will be reading, ‘Be a King: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Dream and You’. This book is written by Carolle Boston Weatherford and illustrated by James E. Ransome. Through our story, we follow along with some school children as they begin a Dr. Martin Luther King project and how they become inspired (in so very many ways) to follow his example. Dr. King taught us to be the change we want to see in the world to make our world a better place for all. Check out this kid-friendly link for some amazing facts all about Martin Luther King Jr. from National Geographic Kids,  https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/explore/history/martin-luther-king-jr/ . Here is a link that further inspires us with more Children’s books all about Martin Luther King Jr., https://bookroo.com/books/topics/martin-luther-king-jr . Many of these books are available at our Delaware County Libraries for curbside pickup. Also, here is a video to watch with your parent(s) of the most inspiring and famous speech, ‘I Have a Dream’ that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave during the March on Washington, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP4iY1TtS3s .
