What is Democracy? A Civil Conversations Project

What is Democracy? A Civil Conversations Project

From many quarters – both Left and Right – we hear that “democracy is under siege.” What does it mean to live in a democracy in 2019? This is the question we will discuss together following the model developed by The Civil Conversations Project of the nationally renown podcast and  radio program On Being, featuring Krista Tippett. Beginning with a brief excerpt from an On Being podcast, we will pursue open-ended questions and practice generous listening. The purpose is not debate but dialogue to gain a greater understanding of each other. The hope is to create an atmosphere of openness, humility and hospitality with those who see issues differently than ourselves.

This discussion will be facilitated by  Broomall resident Dr. Drick Boyd, Professor of Urban Studies at Eastern University, and Mr. Vic Compher, a Documentary Filmmaker with Caregiver Films.
