Local Author Presentation: Captured with Love and History
Join us to hear local author Kathleen McDevitt discuss her new book, Captured with Love and History: Willson Way Photography, a personal memoir about grandfather, Thomas C. Willson Sr., who developed a camera system and pioneered school photography. His camera can be found in the Smithsonian! From secrets of the hyper-classified Manhattan Project to capturing coverage in Life Magazine, his work and family legacy have been important and exciting. But sometimes, the greatest history is local: explore three fascinating farms, including a Havertown, PA, homestead that secretly housed a Roaring Twenties speakeasy. Woven throughout are the author's own magical childhood memories among Shetland ponies and her adventures as a photographer. From a Revolutionary War Manor to a beach tag invention at the Jersey Shore, this is a love story focused on three generations of true American pioneers.
Kathleen is a longtime photographer, writer and storyteller, and she was raised on a small farm in Havertown, PA.
