Highlighting Pennsylvania Women During America’s 250th Anniversary Celebrations
Amanda Owen, author, The Justice Bell
Cosponsor Radnor Historical Society
Wednesday, July 8 6:30PM
Winsor Room
Drawing on new research, historical photographs, and newspaper accounts, author Amanda Owen features profiles of twenty-five women who served as speakers on the Justice Bell tour, and traces the Bell’s story from its origin as a grassroots campaign tool, through the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, and into the present day.
Owen’s book, The Justice Bell: Tracing the Journey of a Forgotten Symbol, provides the first in-depth documentation of the Justice Bell’s creation, its historic 1915 tour, years of obscurity, and its rediscovery a century later.
There will be a screening of a short film at the event.
Books will be available for purchase.
Founded in 2016, the Justice Bell Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to educating, inspiring, and mobilizing current and future voters.
