Local Author Talk: Mike Smith author of "A Ghostly Wind in Delco"
Mike Smith, a Delco native for over 60 years, grew up in Lansdowne, and later lived in
Drexel Hill where he raised his family. He co-owned “The Balcony” in 69 th Street, a
popular spot in the 70’s and 80’s for buying jeans, records, and posters. Mike shares
his unique experiences of being in retail business with his brother in his first book, My
View from the Balcony: (a Memoir). Currently Mike is a successful real estate agent
with Coldwell Banker- Media. He enjoys spending much of his free time writing the
sequel to A Ghostly Wind in DELCO and performing guitar in a church band. He currently
resides in Delaware with his husband, Rick, and their two dogs.
A Ghostly Wind in Delco marks Mike’s inaugural work of fiction. The novel recounts the
tale of determined female ghosts, former victims of a drug ring operating out of
a grand house called “the Castle”. To avenge their untimely deaths, the ghosts
collaborate to haunt those responsible, leaving behind clues to help unravel the truth
and bring about justice. Ghostly Wind is chock full of references and allusions to places
that will resonate with anyone familiar with “Delco”.
