News Smarts is an engaging and interactive library program designed for adults to build critical news literacy skills in today’s fast-paced information environment. Led by a librarian trained in media and information literacy, the program empowers participants to:

  • Identify credible news sources

  • Spot misinformation and disinformation

  • Understand the role of bias and framing in news stories

  • Use fact-checking tools and techniques

  • Evaluate news on social media platforms
