Teen Volunteer Babysitting Night During Adult Fundraiser BeerFest at Middletown Free Library

Teen Volunteer Babysitting Night During Adult Fundraiser BeerFest at Middletown Free Library

Are you an outgoing, friendly, responsible teen (aged 13-17) who is good at babysitting and needs some volunteer service hours for application into the National Honors Society or Junior Honors Society?  Middletown Free Library is hosting a babysitting night in which teens will babysit elementary aged students during the annual fundraiser for adults.  The library is opening registrations for Teens who want to apply to be babysitters for this event.  All Teens must have parent/guardian permission before applying.  Accepted Teens will earn volunteer service hours that can be used to help complete a school community service-hours requirement.

Thursday Oct. 9th from 5:15-9:15PM MFL Annual Fundraiser Adult Beerfest and Children's Babysitting Night.  For this event, adults attending the fundraiser can drop off their children in the Children's section of the library while the adults attend the adult-only Beerfest fundraiser in the Main section of the library.

We need teen volunteers to babysit the elementary-aged children.  The ratio would be one-teen-to-one-child while the adult library staff supervise in the Children's section.  We will provide pizza and water for the teens and children, as well as toys, games, puzzles, etc.  Teens will complete a checklist of fun activities with their assigned kid, including helping their kid do a scavenger hunt, coloring a coloring page, reading books to their kid, completing a puzzle, making a craft, playing other games, and helping clean up after pizza.  Teens would also need to escort their assigned kid back and forth to the restroom if needed (waiting outside the restroom as no children or teens are allowed to wander into the Main section of the library during the Beerfest).

For this event, we can ONLY accept teen volunteers who are responsible, who are good at following directions and setting a good example, and who are ready to work with kids.    The library cannot accept volunteers who are doing court-ordered community service for this volunteering opportunity.  No cell-phone usage while volunteering/babysitting the kids.

By registering for this event, you agree to apply and be contacted/interviewed by Miss Libby to go over rules and expectations for the babysitting.  Miss Libby will inform you if you have been accepted as a babysitter volunteer.  If students are not able to comply with rules/expectations for the babysitting event, they will not be able to volunteer to babysit.  Teens must have parent/guardian's permission to apply.

Registration is REQUIRED as there are only a limited amount of application/volunteering spots available.

Contact Miss Libby for more details: MFLYouthServicesAssistant@gmail.com

As a reminder, all volunteers aged 18 and up MUST have volunteer clearances.
