Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) Academy

Empowering Future Leaders Through Literacy

L.I.T. Academy is a FREE, eight-week, story-driven summer program for children ages 4–8 that cultivates strong reading skills, emotional resilience, and the confidence to lead. Through books, creative expression, and mentorship, we create a welcoming space where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to thrive.

Each week includes:

  • Guided Storytime: Read-alouds that spark imagination, conversation, and connection
  • Hands-On Creative Activities: Expressive crafts and projects tied to weekly themes
  • Group Conversations: Supportive discussions around big ideas like empathy and confidence
  • Guest Visits: Local role models share inspiring stories
  • Free Take-Home Books & Resources: Provided through support from the Rotary of Chester and Rotary District 7450 Gundaker Foundation

Why It Matters:

  • Reading skills and confidence grow
  • Children build empathy, self-awareness, and connection
  • Guest mentors show children what is possible
  • Families get tools to support learning together
  • Every child is celebrated for who they are
