Middletown Free Library Kids Logic Puzzle and Chess Club 1:30-3:30
Kids Logic Puzzle and Chess Club at the Middletown Free Library from 1:30-3:30!!
Need a brain-stimulating activity while the kids are out of school? Try out a chess match or some of our logic puzzles. Teen volunteers from the High School and Middle School will be there to help explain the rules and play games with the kids.
We'll have different logic puzzle-style games like Krypto, Connect 4, Mastermind, Memory, and many more. We will also have several chess sets. Best for ages 5-11, but younger siblings always welcome. We will also have floor puzzles and easy games for the younger siblings. Stop in for one puzzle/match, or try a few more.
Special Guest Chess Tutor on Select Days**: On certain days we will also have a high school student who has played chess professionally! He will be giving group chess lessons from 1:30 to 2:00 to anyone interested in improving their chess skills. His tips and ideas will mainly be for beginner and intermediate level players, but more advanced tactics will also be available. **Days our Chess Tutor will be available: 7/7, 7/9, 7/21, 7/23, 7/28, 7/30.
A few ideas/chess moves will be taught each day, as well as practices for participants to be able to spot these ideas during games. While chess may seem difficult, it is something that anyone, including you, can learn.
Children under the age of 12 MUST have an adult present in the library. This is NOT a drop off event. Parents MUST remain in the library with children.
Registration is required if you want to have a seat with our Chess tutor.
Registration is encouraged, but not required if you just want to play chess/logic puzzle games with our teen volunteers.
No registration needed if you just want to play with the games.
