Fashion through the Decades
Join us on Monday, April 7 at 6:30pm for a fun trip down the fashion memory “runway!” with Delaware County resident and historical fashion expert Diane McNitt. She will discuss the impact of the economy, wars, Hollywood, TV, and dancing on fashion trends. Hear about Coco Chanel’s lasting legacy, interesting button trivia, the significance of stripes on men’s suits, plus the rise and fall of hemlines. Learn about the most copied wedding gown, the revolutionary fashion items that shocked the world, and the origins of the “little black dress.” View vintage clothing and accessories up close, from a 1920’s flapper dress and 1940’s “New Look” ensemble to a 1960’s psychedelic jacket and an Audrey Hepburn-inspired cocktail dress, handbag and gloves. Diane has studied History of Fashion and will bring a wealth of knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to our night! Registration is required for this event.
