Women's Suffrage in Pennsylvania 1840-1920
Award-winning author and historian Robyn Young will discuss her new book, Women's Suffrage in Pennsylvania 1840-1920.
The book contains a history of the suffrage movement in Pennsylvania including biographical information about 165 suffragists and "suffragents" and their contributions to the passage of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution. Young highlights the 1852 Woman's Rights Convention in West Chester, the Justice Bell Tour of 1915, and the Women's Land Army during World War I. The book also includes strategies used by suffragists to gain the right to vote in 1920. Also included are color photos of markers Young has had installed and dedicated to suffragists in Pennsylvania.
