YOUTH LED HUMANITIES (YLH)

YOUTH LED HUMANITIES (YLH)

Youth Led Humanities is a program that has opportunities for teens to lead and experience the humanities through a variety of activities.  Through a grant from PA HUMANITIES and IMLS we are able to offer a wide range of events where teens can try out different kinds of projects that they may not have experienced before.  For example, in the past we have tried pottery, jewelry making, building birdhouses, improv, attending musicals, visiting the Swedish Cabin in Upper Darby, doing 3D imaging, and taking a trip to Washington, DC where we were able to see the Library of Congress, tour the Capitol, and visit the National Air and Space Museum.  The activities we do are determined by the teens involved.

Below are a few examples of past events.

Through PA HUMANITIES, all Youth-led Humanities sites show a commitment to:

  • Providing high-quality humanities programming that reflect young people’s interests and needs
  • Supporting positive youth development through engagement in the humanities
  • Centering diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Providing inclusive, belonging spaces for youth
  • Cultivating youth leadership and action

Register below or attend one of our events and sign up at the library.

Youth Led Humanities is a program of PA Humanities, the Federal-State Partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities, developed in part by federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds administered by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
