The Huichol, or Wixáritari, descendants of the Aztecs, are an indigenous people of Mexico renowned worldwide for their intricate paintings created using colorful yarn attached to wooden boards with beeswax. In celebration of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, we will explore the history behind this stunning art form and create our own simplified versions.
