Jackson Wild Film Showcase is eager to share the best wildlife, nature and science films from their Awards and World Wildlife Day Film Showcase with local audiences like ours. The powerful and inspiring films were curated from entries and nominations from 17 countries around the world.

For over 30 years, Jackson Wild has been a catalyst for accelerating and elevating impactful storytelling at the nexus of nature, science, and conservation.

Between Earth & Sky: Exploring Disturbance and Recovery in Films and Forests

Andrew Nadkarni ‘13 is a queer multiracial filmmaker from Media, PA, currently based in Brooklyn, NY. His directorial debut documentary which highlights Dr. Nalini Nadkarni's groundbreaking treetop research, Between Earth & Sky, won Best Short at Big Sky Doc Film Fest, Audience Award at DC Environmental Film Fest, and premiered on PBS / POV in Fall 2023.

Following the film’s premiere on POV / PBS, it was shortlisted for the 2024 Academy Awards.

A graduate of NYU Tisch, Andrew was an associate producer on BEL CANTO, production supervisor on the NY Unit of GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY, and production coordinator on MODERN LOVE and AWKWAFINA IS NORA FROM QUEENS. Andrew recently produced the narrative feature, ACTUAL PEOPLE, now streaming on MUBI.

Dr. Nalini Nadkarni is a Professor Emeritus of Biology at the University of Utah. For four decades, she has been studying the biota that live in rainforest canopies and has documented the numerous critical ecological roles they play in tropical and temperate forests. Her work has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the National Geographic Society.
