‘Grow, Eat, Learn’ with Marple Public Library & Chef Dad’s Table
Join Marple Public Library & Chef Dad’s Table for a fun-filled and educationally enriching program about how food connects us all to each other and the magical world of plants and gardening. We will start each program by learning about Edna Lewis and the book that inspired our recipe today, "Bring Me Some Apples and I’ll Make You a Pie: A Story About Edna Lewis". This inspiring and trailblazing book was written and illustrated by Robbin Gourley. We will continue our interactive program with Chef Dad’s Table by making our own Strawberry Shortcake Parfaits. Through this recipe, Chef Dad’s Table will incorporate the Spring and Summer harvest of strawberries and explain how it relates to our story shared today. Afterward, we will learn about strawberry plants and plant our own seeds. All registered participants will also receive a kid-friendly culinary packet to inspire your further foodie adventures. For all program attendees today (1 entry per family), we will raffle off Longwood Gardens Family Passes and announce winners at the end of each program.
